Seven Day Forecast

Good Morning! Light snow continues to fall in some areas, but will come to an end this morning. Accumulations will remain under 1". The heaviest snow will fall around the Twin Cities and Duluth. Expecting a high near 35*, with a northeast wind at 15-30 mph. The sky will clear for tonight, and it will be chilly. Low near 20*, with a north wind at 10-20 mph.

Drier weather mover in for the end of the week, with temperatures returning to the 40s, and even near 50 by Friday. The next chance of rain returns on Saturday, as warmer air moves in. Highs will be back into the 60s on Easter Sunday, and that warm weather will continue for next week.

Differences Between the new and old systems

  • Wind speed is now calculated for 5 feet off the ground. Wind speed was previously based on observations at 33 feet.
  • The calm wind threshold was lowered to 3mph.
  • A consistent standard for skin tissue resistance is now in use.
  • Measurements are based on how wind affects the human face, typically the most exposed portion of the body.
  • The table incorporates the theory that heat is lost from the body depending on its surroundings
  • The sun's impact is not factored into the wind chill temperature formula.
