Sunday was a beautiful day, with highs in the 70s, but a cold front is moving through tonight, and that means cooler and windy for Monday. Some clouds will move through with the front, and there may be a few spotty showers. Low near 43*, with a south wind, shifting west at 5-15 mph. Monday will be cooler and windy. Expecting a high near 56*, with a northwest wind at 15-30 mph.

Tuesday will be the best day of the week, with sunshine, and highs in the 60s. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday through Friday. Highs will be in the 50s Wednesday and Thursday. Much cooler air arrives by Friday, with temperatures in the 40s. Next weekend looks nice, but cool, with highs in the 50s.

Differences Between the new and old systems

  • Wind speed is now calculated for 5 feet off the ground. Wind speed was previously based on observations at 33 feet.
  • The calm wind threshold was lowered to 3mph.
  • A consistent standard for skin tissue resistance is now in use.
  • Measurements are based on how wind affects the human face, typically the most exposed portion of the body.
  • The table incorporates the theory that heat is lost from the body depending on its surroundings
  • The sun's impact is not factored into the wind chill temperature formula.
