This Evening/Tonight

Our weather has certainly turned nice again.  Temperatures will fall from the 70s into the 60s this evening. Clear skies and low humidity about across the region along with comfortable September temperatures. It will again be cool tonight but not frosty.

Lows: 42°F-48°F

Wind: Light and Variable


A weak front is expected to produce a light north wind on Wednesday which will cool northern areas a few degrees.  But the pleasant weather will continue overall.

Wednesday Night/Thursday

Mostly clear Wednesday night with increasing clouds Thursday.  There may be an isolated shower or two Thursday afternoon.

Highs: 70°F-75°F

Wind: Southeast 15-25 mph

Extended Forecast

Mostly cloudy Friday and Saturday with scattered showers Friday and a few widely scattered showers left over Saturday.  Rain is not expected to be either widespread or heavy.

John Wheeler

John was born in Baton Rouge, LA, and grew up near Birmingham, Alabama. As a teenager, his family moved to Madison, Wisconsin, and later to a small town in northeast Iowa. John traces his early interest in weather to the difference in climate between Alabama and Wisconsin. He is a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in meteorology. Like any meteorologist, John is intrigued by extremes of weather, especially arctic air outbreaks and winter storms.  John has been known to say he prefers his summers to be hot but in winter, he prefers the cold.  When away from work, John enjoys long-distance running and reading.  John has been a meteorologist at WDAY since May of 1985.
