2 / 2

The Devils Lake Chamber of Commerce launched a website as part of a campaign to raise awareness for a proposed convention and wellness center.

The site, , offers information about the project, as well as floor plans and color renderings of the facilities.

The convention center would likely go at the former site of the Devils Lake Wal-Mart and the wellness center would be added to Lake Region State College.

The website is available ahead of a special election on October seventh.

Locals will vote for or against a half percent sales tax increase required to pay for the 23 and a half million dollar project.

Devils Lake Tourism Director Suzie Kenner said, "Because we are asking for a half percent sales tax increase with the city of Devils Lake, it's very important to get the message out and to make the voters aware of the projects."

The chamber of commerce urges locals to check the website periodically. New information will be added regularly until the October seventh election.
