Construction starts on South Washington Street
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ)—Grand Forks drivers can note construction on a major road. The stretch of South Washington Street between Demers Avenue and First Avenue is reduced to one lane in either direction.
Crews replaced a drainage system under the railroad bridge, and started to repave the road. The crews say this road touch-up will make the ride much smooth for drivers.
“The main problem was a drain issue. There is a storm sewer down there which then caused standing water. And water eats away at stuff. And over time it really degraded that road,” said Public information officer, John Bernstrom.
Construction will wrap up Wednesday evening, and the department of transportation will foot the bill.
