MOORHEAD—Grab a book and your furry friend for a reading session at the library.

The Moorhead Library and Therapy Pets of the Red River Valley are giving children a chance to improve their reading skills by reading to therapy pets.

Parents can sign their children up to read aloud to these therapy dogs in 15-minute sessions.

The library says studies prove the more a child reads out loud, the more confidence and reading skills they gain.

"To really help our young readers in the community feel confident and have a relaxing buddy to read with," said Cassey Orre, Youth Services Associate.

Reading with therapy pets happens on the first Saturday and 3rd Monday of every month.
