Manhunt underway in Grand Forks

UPDATE: Officer involved in shooting on Spirit Lake Nation

UPDATE: Multiple family members have told WDAZ that a young man, Joe Charboneau, was killed in the shooting.

Fort Totten, ND (WDAZ TV) – A police officer was involved in a shooting on the Spirit Lake Nation.

The FBI confirmed to WDAZ that a shooting took place overnight involving a tribal police officer.

Few details are being released. Special Agent Cindy Burnham says, “That shooting is under investigation and the FBI is assisting with that investigation.”

It is unknown at this time if anyone was injured or killed in the shooting.

The Spirit Lake Police Department refused to comment.

A message left with the BIA has not yet been returned.
