LARIMORE, ND (WDAZ)—A dangerous suspect wanted by the FBI is now in custody after leading authorities on a high speed chase.

23-year-old Dakota Charboneau is wanted for a brutal attack on two people on the Spirit Lake Reservation back in October.

Charboneau allegedly broke a man’s face by beating him with a rifle and then firing 5 shots at him while he was on the ground.

The Grand Forks county Sheriff’s Office received information Charboneau was hiding at an apartment in Larimore.

Authorities spotted Charboneau coming home. He then allegedly led them on a 75 mile chase that ended in Hamar.

“Well I’m just glad that the officers were on top of it. He wasn’t able to escape them and get out and run into anyone’s homes. A lot of kids live here, so it’s really nice that he’s not around,” said Larimore resident Heather Bridgeman.

Charboneau is charged with assault.
