A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after striking three vehicles on South Columbia Road in Grand Forks.

Scott J. Rodger, 30, Grand Forks, was driving a 1997 Chevy Suburban south in the 1300 block of Columbia Road at about 12:49 p.m. when he crossed into the northbound lanes and struck three different cars, finally stopping when he collided head-on with a northbound 2009 Jeep, according to the Grand Forks Police Department.

Rodger was arrested for allegedly driving under revocation and driving under the influence "and was confined at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center," according to the press release. He was also cited for "care required."

Steve Ranz, of Fertile, Minn., was the first driver to be struck in the wreck. He said it appeared Rodger accelerated before hitting the left side of his vehicle. Ranz said another car was in the northbound right lane, giving him few options to avoid being hit.

“It’s kind of a scary thing, you don’t have a lot of options and don’t have a lot of time to think about it,” he said.

An unnamed passenger in the Jeep was transported by a personal vehicle to the Altru emergency room with unknown injuries, the press release said. Nobody else was injured or issued citations. Both northbound lanes of traffic were closed and traffic was redirected.
