WEST FARGO—The mystery at a West Fargo elementary school began with a nibble in the kitchen.

A staff member was bitten by "something" on Thursday at L.E. Berger Elementary, 631 4th Ave. E., according to a press release from West Fargo Public Schools.

The district sent in some maintenence staff Friday to investigate the bite, but couldn't find a culprit.

Friday afternoon, a student was bitten.

"In both instances, neither the staff member nor the student saw what bit them," the release states.

The bites are reportedly small, which doesn't narrow it down much. It is unclear if there have been any negative effects on the bitten.

L.E. Berger Elementary parents were notified Friday afternoon. A Family Fun Night scheduled for Friday was cancelled. The YMCA After-School Care Program was relocated for at least a night.

West Fargo Public Schools has hired a company to try to get to the bottom of the mystery, it said.
