Grand Forks School District growing
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ)--The Grand Forks School District is growing--by a lot.
Over the next 5 years, they're expecting the district to grow by 600 students.
That's an increase of almost 8 percent.
The study also found if they don't use portable classrooms at Viking Elementary, they could face some capacity problems.
They say these increases are probably connected to the improved economy, and development in South Grand Forks.
“It’s great obviously for the school district because more students means more foundation aid and more money for our programs but second of all, I think it's important for our community that we continue to grow and bring young families into our community that have school-aged children,” said Grand Forks Public School District Assistant Superintendent, Jody Thompson.
