The celebration featuring World War II-era aircraft and bus and aerial tours of the area where the state's first producing oil well was located.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple, (R) North Dakota) said, "We have encouraged business development, we have encouraged job creation over the past 15 years. And we have said that we will keep taxes down and we will keep a reasonable regulatory climate and we will encourage people to bring jobs to North Dakota.".

North Dakota is now one of 5 states to produce a million barrels of oil a day.

The state accounts for 12 percent of all U-S production.
