Driver charged, victim identified in fatal crash

MAYVILLE, N.D. — The passenger in a car who died on Friday when the driver lost control on a gravel road was identified Saturday as Darin Klabo, 34, of Portland, N.D.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the driver, Troy Forsgren, 45, of Mayville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. They were traveling north in a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado on 150th Avenue Northeast when the pickup slid into the ditch about a half-mile south of First Avenue, hit a field approach and rolled, according to the release.

Forsgren was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries and is currently facing charges of driving under the influence. Neither man was wearing a seatbelt, according to the release.

The investigation is still ongoing.
