Weather

WDAZ employs two full-time meteorologists, each forecasting and keeping the region informed on weather developments.

WDAZ incorporates the Doppler Radar Weather System to bring up-to-the-minute weather information to the region.

Sports

Being an ABC affiliate, WDAZ-TV is where the Grand Forks area finds ABC's Monday Night Football and Wide World of Sports.

WDAZ Television produces the Coach's Shows for the University of North Dakota.

The WDAZ Sports department is known for its top-notch coverage of the University of North Dakota Sioux Athletics. Including live broadcasts of UND/NDSU football, and men's and women's basketball games. WDAZ is also the station that has followed the Sioux football team through many playoff games with live broadcasts from a number of different locations throughout the country.

North Dakota High School football playoff broadcasts have become a favorite among WDAZ viewers.

The addition of the mobile satellite uplink truck, LiveStar, has only enhanced WDAZ's sports coverage; allowing the delivery of sports from anywhere.

Coverage Area

WDAZ-TV is affiliated with WDAY-TV in Fargo, ND and is part of the Fargo DMA (Designated Market Area); consisting of 35 counties that have approximately 217,500 households.

WDAZ and WDAY broadcast from separate towers/transmitters within the Fargo DMA. This allows each station to break down the DMA into separate trade areas which include the Grand Forks Trade Area (WDAZ) and the the Fargo Trade Area (WDAY).

The Grand Forks Trade area (WDAZ) reaches the northern portion of the DMA serving a 17 county region with approximately 82,000 television households.

The Fargo Trade area (WDAY) reaches the southern portion of the DMA serving an 18 county region with approximately 135,500 television households.

Two towers/transmitters allow WDAZ/WDAY to cover the entire DMA while each station concentrates on its specific region's news, weather, and sports. Advertisers have the advantage of targeting the entire DMA or narrowing the market to reach a specific trade area.

WDAZ offers its clients and potential advertisers professional marketing, and advertising expertise while utilizing a variety of computer programs, including Broadcast Management Plus (BMP) and the Nielsen S.T.A.R. Report.

WDAZ account executives have the ability to place advertising on WDAZ-TV in Grand Forks and WDAY-TV in Fargo or both stations simultaneously. Advertising on both stations gives the advertiser the advantage to target markets through the entire Fargo DMA.

Advertisers purchasing the WDAZ/WDAY combination give their advertising message access to the Canadian Cable System at no additional cost. In Winnipeg alone, more than 256,000 homes are wired into the cable system and receive our signal.
