River Cities Speedway - July 28th

1 / 2
2 / 2

And since it's Friday, that means it's racing night out at River Cities Speedway.

First up were the street stocks. This is the Grand Forks native James Meagher cruising around the Bullring. He takes the checkered in heat one.

Next up were the Midwest Mods and it's Jesse Aho from my home state, the great state of Michigan who wins heat number two.

Then it was the modifieds that hit the track. In the 17 car, that's Langdon native, Lance Schill who takes heat number two.

Up next were the late models. This was a great heat and in the end it was East Grand Forks native Joey Pederson taking the checkered flag.

And last but not least were the sprint cars. This is another EGF native. It's Mitch Mack in the 92 car getting the heat one win.

Unfortunately, none of the feature results have been posted at this time.

Mark is the Sports Anchor at WDAZ. He comes to Grand Forks from his hometown of Grand Rapids, MI. Mark graduated from Butler University in 2016 and started working at WDAZ in July of that year. Mark is the Monday-Friday Anchor for the 6 and 10 O'clock shows. During his time as the Sports Anchor at WDAZ, he has covered events like March Madness, Super Bowl 52, and interviewed many athletes--from kindergarteners to professionals. Mark loves playing and watching sports as much as he enjoys covering them--when he was in high school, he was the captain of his varsity basketball team, and he played on Butler's club basketball team. Mark's favorite part of being a sports anchor is capturing and sharing the moments in sports that connect the community. Aside from broadcasting and reporting, Mark loves when he has the opportunity to be the play-by-play announcer for athletic events. In his spare time, you can find Mark shooting hoops, eating ice cream, or hanging out with his wife, Kelly, and their cat, Stella. Fun fact: Mark loves math so much, he added a math minor, just so he could take more college calculus courses.
