RedHawks Manager Doug Simunic relieved of duties

FARGO - The F-M RedHawks have relieved Field Manager Doug Simunic of all duties as of Sunday morning. 

Pitching coach Michael Schlact has been named interim manager for the conclusion of the 2017 season. 

Simunic has been Manager with the RedHawks for 22 years and was the organizations sole field manager since its conception. 

He has a 1202-839 overall record with the club that included five league championships and six manager of the year awards. 

RedHawks ownernship released a statement about the change via press release Sunday morning.

“Twenty-two years is a long time, and Doug has had an outstanding run with the RedHawks. However, I think it is in the organization’s

best interests at this time to change the on-field leadership. We appreciate the many contributions Doug has made to the RedHawks and

baseball in Fargo-Moorhead and wish him the best as he pursues future baseball endeavors.”

Search for a new manager will start following the 2017 season.
