WDAY-TV - Doug Simunic was fired from as manager of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on August 13th, in the middle of his 22nd year with the team that he'd managed since its inaugural season.

He won 5 league championships with the RedHawks and over 1200 games in his tenure, while 2017 was in the last year of his contract.

Simmy was fired in the midst of a streak that saw the RedHawks lose four in a row and seven of the previous eight games.

His replacement was pitching coach Michael Schlact, who led the team to the brink of the playoffs, failing to get in on a tiebreaker.
