Central football has two players moving on to the next level

For two local Grand Forks Central stand-out's this National Signing Day is special in more ways than one.

Zack Murphy signed with UND as a preferred walk-on.

Zane Miller also signed his national letter of intent, but for Minnesota State-Moorhead.

The two just so happened to be best friends and have influenced each other in countless ways.

But it's also been the people that have surrounded them that make an impact as well.

Zack and Zane will say goodbye to high school in a few months and their former head football coach will certainly miss them.

But he knows the impact these two have made on his football program.

Mark Pearson

Mark is the Sports Anchor at WDAZ. He comes to Grand Forks from his hometown of Grand Rapids, MI. Mark graduated from Butler University in 2016 and started working at WDAZ in July of that year. Mark is the Monday-Friday Anchor for the 6 and 10 O'clock shows. During his time as the Sports Anchor at WDAZ, he has covered events like March Madness, Super Bowl 52, and interviewed many athletes--from kindergarteners to professionals. Mark loves playing and watching sports as much as he enjoys covering them--when he was in high school, he was the captain of his varsity basketball team, and he played on Butler's club basketball team. Mark's favorite part of being a sports anchor is capturing and sharing the moments in sports that connect the community. Aside from broadcasting and reporting, Mark loves when he has the opportunity to be the play-by-play announcer for athletic events. In his spare time, you can find Mark shooting hoops, eating ice cream, or hanging out with his wife, Kelly, and their cat, Stella. Fun fact: Mark loves math so much, he added a math minor, just so he could take more college calculus courses.
