2014 Fall Football Camp Tour: Grand Forks Red River Roughriders

2 / 2

Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - Our fall camp tour takes us to Grand Forks Red River tonight, as the Roughriders try to make their march back to the top of the EDC.

Red River was the fourth seed from the east a year ago, and got knocked out by Minot in the opening round of the state playoffs.

Depth is a concern this year for the Riders, so expect a lot of young guys to see playing time more than past years. But, still the expectations never change for Vyrn Muir's squad; they plan to compete with the best teams in the East.

Vyrn Muir/Red River Head Coach: “We want to be able to compete with the West Fargo’s, the Davies, and Fargo South because they are going to be the top teams returning this year. We were the fourth seed last year coming out of the East and we want to at least be that, if not better than that if we can.”

Logan Steen/Red River Sr. OL: “I believe we have one of the bigger, better offensive lines in the state. So I believe we should be able to run the ball quite a bit this year compared to last year. So I believe we should make it to the playoffs, hopefully advance off that first round.”

The Roughriders open the year at home against Bismarck on Friday, August 29th.
