Gophers hand UND 3-0 loss in Kessel's return

In her first college hockey game in nearly three years, former National Player of the Year Amanda Kessel assisted on two of Minnesota's three goals en route to a 3-0 win over UND.

Shelby Amsley-Benzie made 29 saves in what was UND's first loss on a Friday this season. The Gophers and Fighting Hawks will meet again Saturday afternoon in the series finale.

Phil Neumann

Phil Neumann is a native of Burnt Hills, NY, a suburb of Albany, and graduated in May from Ithaca College with a degree in journalism. While at Ithaca College, he was a sports anchor, reporter, and play-by-play announcer for the school’s TV station (ICTV) and its award-winning radio station, 92 WICB. Neumann has covered events like the New York Giants training camp and horse races at the historic Saratoga Race Course as an intern with WNYT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Albany, NY, and was the play-by-play announcer for the Albany Dutchmen summer collegiate baseball team in 2013. He also played four years of football at Ithaca College, and was a team captain his senior year. Neumann started as the Assistant Sports Director at WDAZ in July and is looking forward to covering all the great sports that the Grand Forks, N.D. area has to offer.
