Amy is proud to be a Red River Valley native and cover stories that matter to her community. She was raised in Hallock, Minnesota and received her degree at the University of North Dakota where she participated in the student run TV show Studio One. In college, Amy met her husband, WDAY’s Jody Norstedt, while interning at WDAZ in Grand Forks. She started at WDAY in April 2014 and is currently WDAY'Z Xtra News at Nine's anchor and producer. Cando, N.D. (WDAY-WDAZ) - Two men are hurt, one seriously, after being attacked in Cando. The Towner County sheriff says Saturday around 5 P.M., they got a call to an apartment building. When they arrived, they found a man bleeding in the hallway with serious injuries. They then found another injured man inside an apartment unit. Both are expected to be okay.
Grand Forks, N.D. - A man is hurt after a three-car crash in Grand Forks. Police say it happened Sunday night around 6:45 on 32nd Avenue near Happy Harry's Bottle Shop. They say 23-year-old Ryan Honken of Grand Forks tried to make a left turn when he pulled out in front of 33-year-old Mohammad Hassan. Hassan's car then hit another car. Hassan was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Honken was given a citation for failure to yield.
Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY/WDAZ-TV) - A person sitting in a recliner at home was hit when a pickup came smashing into the room. The Moorhead Fire Department says around 1:30PM Sunday, a medical condition caused a driver to lose consciousness in a neighborhood south of The Meadows golf course. The pickup hit what's described as a den area of the home. The person inside was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay.
FARGO -- The Fargo Sears store at the West Acres Shopping Center here is among 150 Sears closures slated nationwide for early this year. The closures were reported by Business Insider on Wednesday, Jan 4., after the magazine obtained internal documents outlining the company’s plans to shut down a total of 108 Kmart stores and 42 Sears stores by April.
Minneapolist, Minn. (WDAY/WDAZ-TV) - The Dakota Access Pipeline protests have taken to a Minnesota Vikings game. Protesters, dressed in Vikings jerseys, reportedly climbed to the top of U.S. Bank Stadium and put up a sign that says “U.S. Bank - Divest - #NoDAPL”.
