GRAND FORKS — North Dakota State women's soccer defeated UND Sunday in a 2-1 victory with 158 in attendance. Hanna Norman scored for the Bison in the 76th minute, then Malley O'Brien scored the winning goal in the 78th minute. Both goals were assisted by Holly Enderle. Goalkeeper Monica Polgar had four saves. The Bison rose to 6-5-0 overall, while Grand Forks fell to 8-3-1.
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- North Dakota State overcame a sluggish start for the second straight game. The Bison proved college football is four quarters, however, and they overcame Northern Iowa on Saturday afternoon at the UNI-Dome. The 56-31 victory moved the No. 1-ranked Bison to 5-0 overall, 2-0 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. The loss dropped the Panthers to 2-3, 1-1.
WADENA, Minn. — The bicyclist who died after hitting a car while crossing Highway 10 against a red light on Thursday night, Oct. 4, has been identified as Daniel John Cermack, 39, of Detroit Lakes, Minn. According to the Minnesota State Patrol release, the biker was travelling northbound on Second Street when he crossed Highway 10 and hit the 2009 Chevy Silverado broadside, which was heading west, at 11:15 p.m. The driver, Lyle William Bethel, 67, of Dent and passenger, Elaine Marie Tuma, 68, of Perham were not injured, the release said.
FAYETTE, Iowa—Quarterback Jakup Sinani threw for 217 yards and ran for 86 to lift Minnesota State Moorhead to a 17-13 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference football victory over Upper Iowa Saturday. Sinani completed 23 of 34 passes with one touchdown and no interceptions. He had 17 carries for 86 rushing yards. Jake Richter caught six passes for 103 yards and one touchdown while Grady Bresnahan hauled in 11 passes for 83 yards.
FARGO — Christopher Riley, who’s accused of fatally shooting his father, was found and arrested in Lindenwood Park about 11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, Fargo police said. Riley, 34, of Fargo had been on the run for about a week. He’s charged in Cass County District Court with murder, a Class AA felony, and he made his first court appearance Friday afternoon, Sept. 28.

BISMARCK — Minnesota State Moorhead strolled to a 48-20 win against Bismarck-Mary on Saturday in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference football. MSUM quarterback Jakob Sinani threw for 272 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions, and ran for two scores. Zach Simons and Denver Colgrove each rushed for one touchdown. Defensive lineman Darius Woods-Steichen collected two sacks on the night, bringing his season total to four.
FARGO -- North Dakota State linebacker Jabril Cox returned an interception for a touchdown on Saturday afternoon and the Bison took a two touchdown lead on the University of Delaware. The problem for the Blue Hens: their offense had run only one play at that point. It was that kind of an afternoon for Delaware. It was some kind of first half for the Bison. They used an explosive first two quarters to take a 38-10 victory before 18,883 fans at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — The name was released in a fatal crash that occurred at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. The victim,. initially reported as a 49-year-old man, was actually 59-year-old Gary Oram of Devils Lake. He died after his truck that was transporting cattle in a trailer crashed on State Highway 20 about three miles south of Devils Lake, N.D. He was traveling north in his 2018 Chevrolet Silverado when he veered off the right edge of the roadway. Oram was transported to St. Alexius Hospital in Devils Lakes where he later died.
FARGO, ND - North Alabama, in its first year of NCAA Division I reclassification, was looking for a gauge on Saturday on where it fits into the FCS. The Lions left Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome with a 38-7 loss. But they also may not be that far off from being competitive at their new level. The Bison defense was its salty self, highlighted by linebacker Jabril Cox, who returned an interception 43 yards for a touchdown for the dagger.
