WEST FARGO — A North Dakota Highway Patrol squad car was rear-ended on Interstate 94 the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 20. Around 8 p.m., a call was dispatched to I-94 near mile marker 344 in West Fargo. Capt. Bryan Niewind said the trooper, Joshua Page, was parked on the westbound median shoulder with emergency lights activated when responding to a previous call of a pickup truck and trailer in the ditch.
TUCSON, Ariz.—In its 16th game against a nationally-ranked opponent during its Division I era, North Dakota State's men's basketball team fell 83-53 at No. 18 Arizona before 14,048 fans Monday night, Dec. 18. Freshman forward Deandre Ayton, who averages 20 points per game, led 9-3 Arizona with 25 points making 11 of 17 field goals. Junior guard Allonzo Trier, who averages 22 points per game, added 15 points for the Wildcats. The Bison, now 5-6 overall, was led by Paul Miller's 12 points and Cameron Hunter's 11 points.

FARGO -- A former Fargo priest that's facing sexual abuse charges has been extradited to the United States from the Philippines. Fernando Laude Sayasaya is facing state child sexual abuse charges that were originally filed in Cass County District Court in December of 2002. The charges claim the abuse took place between July 1995 and June 1997 for one victim and June 1997 through August 1998 for another victim. Sayasaya was a priest with the Fargo Diocese from 1995 to August 1998 and was removed from priestly ministry after the allegations.
FARGO—North Dakota State 197-pounder Cordell Eaton and heavyweight Dan Stibral closed with wins to lift the Bison wrestling team to a 19-16 win over No. 18 Central Michigan Sunday in the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. NDSU, 1-3, trailed the Chippewas 16-12 heading into the final two weight classes.
MOORHEAD—Derek Thompson hit a layup with one second remaining to give Bemidji State an 82-81 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball win over Minnesota State Moorhead Saturday at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse. Thompson led Bemidji State, 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the NSIC, with 20 points. Shari Black added 18 points and Jai'Vionne Green added 14 points for Bemidji State.
FARGO - The second trip to North Dakota went about the same as the first one for the University of San Diego. North Dakota State stuck a stifling defense on the Toreros and the game was over before the fourth quarter rolled around. NDSU rushed for 301 yards and took a 38-3 victory in the second round of the FCS playoffs Saturday afternoon, Dec. 2, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome. The Bison, 11-1, will host Wofford College (S.C.) next weekend.
GLYNDON, Minn.—Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton came away with a victory in a battle between two of the best girls basketball teams in the area at the D-G-F Sanford Power Tip-Off Classic on Saturday. Natalie Steichen led the Rebels with 17 points, while Rae Critchley added 12 and Grace Steichen added 11 for D-G-F (2-0). Victoria Braaten finished with 20 points and Abby Duchscherer netted 18 for Kindred (2-1).
MINOT, N.D.—Minot State knocked off Minnesota State Moorhead 78-65 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball Saturday, Dec. 2. The Dragons had defeated Minot State 11 straight times before the loss on Saturday. The Beavers last beat MSUM on Dec. 13, 1994. Minot State (8-1, 2-1 NSIC) led by as many as 23 in the second half. Johnny Beeninga led the Dragons (3-5, 1-1 NSIC) with 16 points.

Kiley Borowicz had a game-high 23 points and Cassidy Thorson added 18 points to lead MSUM (5-1, 2-0 NSIC). Minot State (4-3, 1-2 NSIC) was led by Holly Johnson's 15 points.
