BOTTINEAU, N.D.—A man was killed 17 miles west of here Friday evening, Oct. 6, when he was ejected from his vehicle. The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported Saturday, Oct. 7, that Jeffrey Shriver, 51, of Bottineau, was eastbound on state Highway 5 from Mohall, N.D., to Bottineau at 8:20 p.m. when his 1998 Chevy Suburban began to enter the south ditch. Shriver overcorrected the vehicle, rolling the Suburban into the south ditch sideways several times.
GRAND FORKS—The UND men's hockey team routed the University of Manitoba 6-2 Saturday night in the team's first and only exhibition game of the season. The seventh-ranked Fighting Hawks were led by Ludvig Hoff who scored two goals in the contest.
FARGO -- Another game, another convincing victory for North Dakota State. The Bison displayed a balanced passing and rushing attack and the double threat was too much for Missouri State to handle.
ABERDEEN, S.D.—Minnesota State Moorhead's last-game drive fell short in a 28-20 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference football loss at Northern State Saturday. Northern State took a 28-20 lead with 49 seconds remaining on a 72-yard touchdown run.
DILWORTH — A kitchen fire Thursday, Sept. 28, at an apartment complex here prompted an evacuation. Emergency crews responded around 5:30 p.m. to Houge Estates, 510 Center Ave., for a fire that Dilworth police officer Elias Hoversten said caused soot damage to one northeast unit on the first floor where the fire was located. "You couldn't see your hand in front of your face," Hoversten said, describing the smoke when officers and the Dilworth Fire Department first arrived.
MORANVILLE TOWNSHIP, Minn.—One person was injured near here Saturday night, Sept. 23, when a van carrying several young children was struck from behind. The Minnesota State Patrol reported the accident happened at 9:47 p.m. on State Highway 11 in Roseau County. According to a news release, a 2006 Honda Odyssey van was westbound when it was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle, which pushed the vehicle into the ditch.
LEON TOWNSHIP, Minn.—One person was killed and another injured Saturday, Sept. 23, when a pickup truck rear-ended a horse-drawn buggy near here. The Minnesota State Patrol reported the accident happened at 7:38 p.m. on State Highway 92. A Ford F-350 and a horse-drawn Amish buggy were southbound on the highway when the pickup driver didn't see the other vehicle until it was too late and hit the back of the buggy. A passenger in the buggy, 23-year-old Elsie Yoder, of Clearbrook, Minn., was taken to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo and died from her injuries.
Fargo, N.D. -- A mobile home started on fire early Thursday morning in North Fargo. Crews were dispatched to 16 West Lynmar North around 6. Fire fighters were able to get it under control in about eight minutes. Crews stayed on scene for about an hour to extinguish and search for hidden fires. The home is believe to be abandoned and no one was inside. Authorities say the damage is about $8,000. They expect the home to be a total loss.

FARGO -- North Dakota State volleyball defeated George Washington 3-0 and Appalachian State 3-2 on Saturday, Sept. 9 in the NDSU Invitational at Bentson Bunker FIeldhouse. In the first game Brianna Rasmusson had 30 assists and Bella Lien had a season-high 8 blocks for NDSU. Mikaela Purnell tallied 24 digs and Rasmusson recorded 46 assists for the Bison in Game 2.
