GRAND FORKS -- Geraldine McCorkell poured in 34 points and pulled down 9 rebounds to lift Idaho to a 78-64 Big Sky Conference women’s basketball win over North Dakota Saturday. UND, which falls to 10-10 overall and 3-6 in the Big Sky, got 16 points from Fallyn Freije and 13 points from Lexi Klabo. Idaho improves to 10-10 overall and 6-3 in the Big Sky.
COLFAX, N.D. – A 51-year-old man found last week on a rural road suffering from “extreme hypothermia” is making improvements, according to his family.
MOORHEAD --A Fargo man suspected of crawling through a window into a south Moorhead home was arrested and cited for misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly conduct early Friday morning, Jan. 26, Moorhead police reported. Zachary Payne, 29, was taken to the Clay County Jail, cited, and then released, police reported.
GRAND FORKS—Grand Forks Red River remained undefeated in East Region play defeating West Fargo 5-1 on Saturday. Landon Haagenson, Landon Hagen, Jackson Kunz, Henry Fosse, and Mason Salquist scored for the Roughriders, which improved to 12-1-2 overall and 9-0-2 in the East Region. Nathan Tangen scored for the Packers, which fell to 3-12 overall and 1-9 in the East Region.
FRAZEE, Minn. – Three people were injured after their vehicle was rear-ended about noon Sunday, Jan. 14, on U.S. Highway 10 near Frazee, the Minnesota State Patrol reported. The driver, Jeffrey Allan Miron, 46, and passengers Julie Ann Miron, 46, and Jacob Dale Miron, 13, all from Brooklyn Center, Minn., were taken to a medical center in Perham with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
HONOLULU—Tom Hoge posted a birdie on the 18th hole to help him take the lead after the third round of the PGA's Sony Open on Saturday. Hoge, a Fargo South High School graduate who went on to golf at Texas Christian University, carded a six-under par 64 on Saturday at the Waialae Country Club. After five-under rounds of 65 on Thursday and Friday, Hoge sits in first place with a three-round score of 194—one shot ahead of patton Kizzire.
MOORHEAD -- Jaylan White scored 27 points and Trevor Zacher added 23 to propel Bismarck-Mary to a 77-65 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men’s basketball win over Minnesota State Moorhead Saturday. Travaun Coad scored 18 points for the Dragons, who fall to 4-12 overall and 2-8 in the NSIC. Mary improves to 3-11 overall and 1-9 in the NSIC.
GRAND FORKS -- Lexi Klabo and Fallyn Freije combined for 43 points and 16 rebounds to lift the University of North Dakota to a 79-70 Big Sky Conference win over Montana State. Klabo, a Fargo Davies graduate, had 22 points and 8 rebounds. Freije, from Edmore, N.D. had 21 points and 8 rebounds. ND, which snapped a four-game losing streak, improves to 8-7 overall and 1-3 in the Big Sky. Montana State falls to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in the Big Sky.
VERMILLION, S.D. -- Freshman Cameron Hunter scored a career-high 35 points as North Dakota State hung on for an 84-79 Summit League men’s basketball win over South Dakota Saturday. The Bison saw a 14-point lead disappear late in the game but regrouped and outscored the Coyotes 10-4 in the final two minutes. Hunter, who made five of six free throws in the final 53 seconds, made 9 of 12 field goals and 12 of 14 free throws. The Bison, despite committing 17 turnovers, made 11 of 22 3-pointers.
FRISCO, Texas -- Make it 6 for 6 for North Dakota State in Frisco. North Dakota State, behind its defense, defeated James Madison University 17-13 Saturday afternoon in the Division I FCS title game. It was the sixth crown for the Bison in seven years and restored their status as the dynasty holder in the subdivision. NDSU tied Georgia Southern for most national titles in the FCS.
