With the new year drawing ever nearer, Grand Forks groups and businesses have come together to keep you and your family busy while you're waiting to turn that calendar page. From 6:00-midnight the Alerus Center is hosting "Celebrate the Night" -- a family event with live entertainment, food, fireworks and more. Performers include bands The Ricks, Penumbra and Troubadour and magician Nick Bretz. There will also be inflatable games, basketball, and a fireworks show to close the night. Tickets are $8 at the door, or $6 in advance from any Hugo's or Valley Dairy location.
A pair of local turkeys paid a visit to the White House this afternoon. The turkeys were selected from a group of 80 raised on the Burkel Farm in Badger, Minnesota. After months of preparation, including regular exposure to noise, music and lights, the pair was deemed ready for the occasion.
