Grand Forks, ND (WDAY-News) Police wanted to get a lost bear out of the city on its own, but they said hundreds of bystanders made it too dangerous. Now, following a daring and dramatic rescue the bear is under emergency care. As the effort grew to get this lost bear out of a tree in University Park in Grand Forks so did the crowds despite pleas by police to stay away.
Grand Forks, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- A Shelter-in-place has been lifted in the 1100 block of 14th AVE. Samuel Nelson, 30 was arrested tonight after a armed standoff. Nelson has five outstanding warrants. Police officers say it started when they tried to stop him earlier in the day and he ran.

Red Lake Falls, MN (WDAZ-TV) A woman accused of murdering a baby she wanted to adopt remains behind bars without bail. While she sits police are still trying to put together some major pieces of the puzzle.
Red Lake Falls, MN (WDAZ-TV) A woman has been arrested charged with murdering a baby. 30-year -old Sarah Kortan of Red Lake Falls is charged with second-degree murder. Police were called to the Prairie Rose apartments in Red Lake Falls on June 20th. Kortan called 911 to say the 2-month-old baby girl she was caring for was not breathing and foaming from the mouth. The baby died two days later at the hospital.
Emerado, North Dakota (WDAZ-TV) Police have identified the man who drowned during a weekend fishing trip. However, investigators remain stumped about exactly what happened. Saturday afternoon, police say 23-year-old Andrew Torrey came here to the English Coulee Diversion Pond near Emerado. "He had his fishing equipment, he had a backpack full of fishing lures, he had a collapsible fishing rod in a case,” commented Investigator Rod Huot with the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Department.

Halstad, MN (WDAZ-TV) The Norman County Attorney’s Office has released video of a deadly YouTube stunt. The family of the victim hopes it serves as a very important lesson. “The near death experiences every time I do something,” Pedro Ruiz says in the video. The 22-year-old was looking to capture international fame on YouTube by recording various stunts to get rich. “I really just want to see if a 50 caliber bullet can go through a book,” he says while loading a gun.

Deering, ND (WDAZ-TV) A Grand Forks mom says her daughter is fighting for her life, and her grandchildren are lucky to be alive. It's all because of a crash in rural Ward County by Minot Tuesday. Troopers say a semi ran a stop sign and collided with a car. Diane Fossum tells us her 52 year old daughter Kim was flown to the hospital with numerous internal injuries. She also sustained 2 broken wrists. Fossum's granddaughter is badly bruised, and her 3 year old great grandson escaped unharmed for the most part.
