Devils Lake, ND (WDAY News) A police officer was reportedly refused service because of his uniform. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, over the weekend a trooper went to the KFC/Taco Bell on Highway 2 in Devils Lake on his lunch break. He claims the employee refused to take the order, telling the trooper he was just there to harass them because they arrested them in the past. Highway Patrol says the trooper just transferred to the Devils Lake region from another part of the state.
THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn.— A mom and her two children were killed in a car crash Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 3, at an intersection near Minnesota Highway 32 just north of Thief River Falls.
Emerado, ND (WDAY News) A man was killed on Highway 2 Monday night just west of the Grand Forks airport. Troopers say a beet truck was pulling off the road for mechnical issues when the empty truck was rear-ended by a pickup. Police say the pickup was going at least 70 miles per hour at the time of the crash. The driver of the pickup died instantly. The semi driver was not hurt. Police do not suspect drugs or alcohol, but distractions are under investigation.
Grand Forks, ND (WDAY News) Firefighters say a candle is to blame for a fire at the LaGrave Apartments. It happened around 8:30. Investigators say a woman was in the shower, and noticed her trash can was on fire. Officials say that's because a candle fell into it. The 3 story building was evacuated. The damage was contained to that apartment.
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — A Grand Forks man died after a crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 2 just outside of Devils Lake. A mack truck pulling a trailer was turning into a business when it was struck from behind by an SUV being driven by 50-year-old Jim Thiery, police said.
Cavalier, ND (WDAY-TV) — Back in April, Sergeant Brad Bowman’s ex-fiance Nikki Rohn claimed he attacked her during a fight at his home. Bowman claimed he never touched her, and was not aware of how Rohn got the injuries. He did say at the time she was using them in an attempt to manipulate the judicial system to get an advantage in a custody battle.
GRAND FORKS - A Grand Forks teenager is behind bars accused of killing a baby. 18-year-old Mason Kamrowski is charged with murder. He was arrested Friday night following a three-month investigation by Grand Forks police. Back in May, Kamrowski 5-month-old Brynley Rymer was brought to Altru after she stopped breathing. She died a few days later. Police are not releasing the cause of the baby's death or the motive. Kamrowski was not the father of the baby, but was engaged to the baby's mother.
GRAND FORKS — A Grand Forks woman is dead following a motorcycle crash.
Rolla, ND (WDAY News) 49-year-old Ronald Wootan was charged with murder Wednesday, accused of killing Joey Pochant late Monday night before an 8-hour standoff. Tuesday afternoon, Rolette County State's Attorney Ryan Thompson said on Faceboook nobody was hurt during the ordeal. Family an friends commeted on the post saying that the information to the public was inaccurate. WDAY News reached out to Thompson when several family members of Joey Pochant told use he was murdered by Wootan, but he referred us back to the release that stated nobody was hurt.
Bagley, MN (WDAY News) It was a violent crime that shocked people across the region. A woman caring for a baby she wanted to adopt accused of beating the 2 month old to death. The attack was so violent the baby suffered multiple skull fractures and her eyes became detached.
