MINOT, N.D. -- A 53-year-old Minot woman is accused of trespassing at a northwest Minot residence on Sunday evening while in possession of methamphetamine. Deborah Sue Peterson is charged with two Class C felonies, each of which carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. A 77-year-old woman called police and told them a strange woman was in her house and refusing to leave. Peterson told the homeowner a man had given her permission to be there. The man mentioned is neither an owner nor a resident of the home.
MINOT, N.D. -- An Amtrak passenger train travelling from Minot hit an unexpected barrier early Wednesday morning. The eastbound train made it about 60 miles before getting stuck in the snow near Rugby March 8. Efforts to pull out the train have not been successful so far. Those on the train are doing well according to reports. The train has power and food is available to the passengers and crew.
MINOT, N.D. -- A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 6 in district court in Minot for a 35-year-old Minot man accused of punching another man and knocking him out during a bar fight over a game of darts last week. Clancy David McIntyre is charged with Class C felony aggravated assault, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison or a $10,000 fine.
MINOT, N.D. -- A two week trial will be scheduled later this year for accused murderer Johnny Cleveland Norwood who is charged with shooting another man in downtown Minot just outside a motorcycle club clubhouse. Norwood, 26, fled after the shooting and was finally tracked down in Las Vegas in July of last year.
MINOT, N.D. -- A 44-year-old Grand Forks man failed to make an appearance for a scheduled district court hearing Thursday on a charge that he kicked a Minot police officer in November. Nathan Benedict Dogskin Jr. is charged with simple assault on a peace officer, a Class C felony that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
MINOT, N.D. -- A 52-year-old Minot man accused of biting off another man's ear during a fight at Minot Lumber more than a year ago made his first appearance in court on charges Thursday. Gary Eiland is charged with aggravated assault, a Class C felony that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
MINOT, N.D. -- A 34-year-old Minot man has been accused of dragging a horse down a road as it was tied by a rope to a stock trailer and later striking another man in the head with the butt of his rifle and cutting him with a knife. Cody Lynn Sundby, 34, is charged with animal cruelty, a Class C felony, and two counts of aggravated assault, both Class C felonies, in district court in McHenry County.
MINOT, N.D. -- A 25-year-old Minot woman will serve 120 days in the Ward County Jail for exposing her 7- or 8-year-old son to methamphetamine last year and causing him to miss an excessive amount of school and for criminal facilitation. Meranda Lynn Malone pleaded guilty to child neglect, a Class C felony, and to criminal facilitation, also a Class C felony, on Jan. 6. For each charge, Judge Gary Lee sentenced her to one year in jail, with a requirement that she serve 120 days, and to three years of supervised probation.
MINOT, N.D. -- The Ice Cold Ryders Motorcycle Club of Minot made an appearance in District Court Wednesday charged with selling alcoholic beverages without a license. According to an affidavit filed with the court, a search of the Ice Cold Ryders clubhouse on West Central Avenue in Minot this month revealed a full bar including a cash register being used in the building. Club President Lashone Brown reportedly told investigators that all money received by the club was donated.
