LAKE SAKAKAWEA, N.D. -- Two men presumed drowned in North Dakota waters had not been recovered as of late Tuesday afternoon. Chad Kanine, 42, Parshall, was reported missing Saturday, June 11, between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. when the jet ski he was operating was recovered on shore opposite the Four Bears Marina. Kanine had been seen jumping waves on his jet ski by fisherman. A pontoon operator later saw Kanine's jet ski floating with no one onboard.

BURLINGTON, N.D. -- An accused armed robber and burglar will remain in jail on $350,000 bond as he faces charges of allegedly breaking into a Minot residence on April 8, 2016, tying up a 22-year-old woman and pointing a gun at her, and robbing her. Judge Todd Cresap refused to lower bond Tuesday for Jherik Anthony Hess, 24, of Burlington, citing the safety of the community.

FESSENDEN, N.D. – The man who recently resigned as sheriff of north-central North Dakota’s Wells County and was arrested the following day has requested permission from district court to be allowed to travel out of state pending his next courtroom appearance. Johnny Zip Lawson, Harvey, who is free on a $25,000 personal recognizance bond, faces a Class A felony charge of conspiracy to deliver meth, a Class C felony charge of bribery–official action and three Class A misdemeanors.
MINOT, N.D. -- A federal judge sentenced disgraced former Minot neurosurgeon Dr. Marc Eichler on Thursday to 36 months in prison for possession of child pornography, according to court records. Eichler was originally charged with child sex abuse offenses in district court in Minot.
MINOT, N.D. -- An all-clear has been given after a bomb threat was called in Thursday morning to the Ward County Courthouse in Minot, according to a sheriff’s deputy. The courthouse and the new Ward County Office building were both ordered evacuated around 10 a.m. People were seen exiting the office building and congregating in a church parking lot across the street from the office building. A bomb squad was called in to investigate.
MINOT, N.D. -- Fire broke out late Thursday morning at a recycling business on the west side of Minot, sending thick, black smoke billowing into the air. Earth Recycling, owned by Arden Jesz, is on the west side of the U.S. Highway 83 West Bypass. Smoke could be seen throughout the city and there were reports of ash falling miles away.
MINOT, N.D. -- A 27-year-old Minot man claims he was pressured into pleading guilty to the murder of his brother on March 1, 2016. Adolfo Contreras-Castillo wants to withdraw his guilty plea. Contreras-Castillo appeared in district court in Minot on Monday before Judge Todd Cresap for a status conference on Monday.
