BELCOURT, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- A member of the North Dakota National Guard has died. Twenty-seven-year-old, Sgt. Travis Sundeen, died at his home in Belcourt. The guard did not give a cause. Sgt. Sundeen grew up in Cando and joined the guard in 2007. He deployed once to Kuwait.
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- One local mother is honoring her son's memory by giving to others. Today Tina Randle filled an entire truck with clothing and food, collected for local shelters. Tina says she came up with the idea for a fundraiser in honor of her son, Jonathan, who died by suicide last year.
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- A Grand Forks airman has been charged with sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in his apartment. Police say the attack happened at twenty-two-year-old Karim Muhammad's apartment off base. His twenty-three-year-old female accuser says she went to his apartment after a night of drinking downtown. She says she fell asleep and woke up to Muhammad assaulting her.
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- A local deli has something new on their menu, hoping to appeal to customers looking to quench their thirst. Scotty's Deli on South Washington Street was granted their liquor license today. Customers can now choose from a wide variety of bottled beers and wines while they dine.
MINNESOTA (WDAZ-TV) --The number of high profile sex cases grows tonight, and this time it includes a big name here at home. Minnesota Senator Al Franken's job could be in jeopardy. WDAZ's Scott Cook joins us now with the allegations against the State's Junior Senator and his response.
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- Advocating for the safety of Native women. Tonight, students in UND's American Indian Studies Program put on an event about missing and murdered Native women in the region. Last year, one hundred and twenty five Native women were reported in North Dakota alone. Native American women on some reservations are murdered at ten times the national average.
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- "MOMMY!!" A big day at the Grand Forks International Airport, as families reunite with their loved ones who've been overseas for nearly a year. Staff Sergeant Stephanie Thielges was in Afghanistan for eleven months with the North Dakota Army National Guard.
DEVILS LAKE, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That's the motto for some arts fans in one community as they hope to build an addition onto the school. Voters denied a nearly nine million dollar fine arts center project in Devils Lake earlier this year. The addition would've given theater and choir students a designated place for their performances, they currently use the lunchroom.
GRAND FORKS, ND (WDAZ-TV) -- It was a memorable visit to our area for some out-of-towners, and not in a good way. People staying in the Grand Forks Travelodge were rushed out of their rooms this afternoon, as alarms sounded, and the fire department showed up. A fire started in a mechanical room, and the firefighters quickly figured out how it all happened.
